The Association of Running Event Directors is managed by David M. Patt, CAE, former Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA). During his 15-year tenure at CARA, he trained hundreds of directors and managers of races of all sizes, administered an annual series of race competition, and produced the LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle, the world¹s largest 8k race.A 23-year association management veteran and long-time volunteer, he has utilized his expertise in strategic planning, marketing, fund-raising, membership recruitment, public relations, and lobbying for public interest groups and membership societies. In 1991, he was named a Certified Association Executive (CAE) by the American Society of Association Executives.
