Negative reaction
A Major League Soccer team recently signed a sponsorship contract with Bimbo (pronounced "beem-bo"), a Mexican company, and agreed to display "BIMBO" on the jerseys of all team players.
Some female fans claim the sponsorship is sexist. Many male fans don't see it that way.
Regardless how you feel about the issue, it's important to remember that a sponsorship that brings negative value may not be in the event's best interest. A sponsorship should help your race, not hurt it.
When negotiating terms of a sponsorship deal, don't just grab the dough. Make sure your event will not be required to do anything that will create a negative reaction among a significant portion of the market or the public.
