Appropriate sponsorship
The City of London UK has accepted a sponsorship from a business referred to by a critic as "a legal loan shark company."
Running events have long refused to solicit sponsorships from companies that manufacture or promote hard liquor or tobacco products. Many races don't accept beer sponsors, either.
Always consider whether a sponsorship is appropriate for your event and if it is compatible with your audiences. Don't just grab the money.
