Tax deadline
If your race is a not-for-profit organization, it must file a federal tax return no later than the 15th day of the 5th month following the end of its fiscal year, even if its tax status was achieved through RRCA membership.
So, if your event's fiscal year ends December 31, the tax return is due May 15.
Organizations that have not filed tax returns for three consecutive years will lose their not-for-profit status.
Check with the Internal Revenue Service to find out what form your organization must file.
