Dishonest volunteers
Don't let strangers handle money, t-shirts, or other valuables at your race.
Assign board members, staff, or proven volunteers to those tasks.
Unfortunately, not all volunteers are honest. Some offer to help just to gain access to race assets.
It's OK to say "no" to a volunteer or to assign that person to a task other than what was requested.
Let newbies serve as course marshals, aid station volunteers, banner hangers, or truck unloaders. If they won't do anything you need or want them to do, then they don't have to volunteer.
