Course error costly

Sometimes (but, fortunately, not that often), runners don't follow the true race course.  They may make a wrong turn or accidentally take a shortcut.

It may be the fault of the race or the local government on whose roads the course is run.  It may even be the fault of the runners.

Here's what the St. Jude Memphis Marathon, in Memphis TN, did to attempt to correct its course error.

The lead motorcycle in the Tucson Marathon took the leader the wrong way on Dec. 13th. He was dq'd too. I wonder if he got the prize money? By the time I went by that corner, there was a volunteer making sure we all went the long way.
