Wet feet
While speaking today at the Wisconsin Parks & Recreation Association, I learned of a half-marathon with a course that crossed a stream.
Runners had to traverse a narrow, slippery wooden board that had been placed over the water. A race volunteer constantly swept it to keep it free of dirt and debris.
That may be acceptable for a trail run, where runners expect to get wet and dirty. It's not acceptable for a road race.
