The Mews Tavern Gear and Beer 5k, in Wakefield RI, does not accept mail-in registrations. Signups are only online.
Additionally, there is a $10 difference between early registration and race day.
Advantages? It's easier to register - runners can sign up any time of day or night without rummaging around for an envelope and a postage stamp, and without having to race to the post office in time to meet registration deadlines.
Race organizers don't have to keystroke entry information. They just download the data provided by runners.
The early registration is an incentive for runners to sign up early and helps the race know how many participants to prepare for.
