The Hughesville 10k, in Hughesville MD, is considering a date change. As part of the process, organizers are talking to other race directors in the area to avoid unnecessary competition between events.
If you are thinking of changing the date of your race, check the race calendars in your area, circuits or series conducted by local running clubs, hotel availability (if needed for expos, registration, parties, or sleeping rooms), and festivals and other non-running activities that may require street closings, police protection, and other local government services.
Always talk with other local race directors and try to find a solution that works for everybody. Keep in mind, though, that larger events may not always be sensitive about the impact of date changes on smaller events.
