Sponsorship issues
Here's a take on corporate sponsorship of festivals.
While runners (and other participants) are your primary audience, sponsors are another, and their interests need to be met - unless those conflict with the interests of runners. (If that's the case, you should not sign that sponsor).
Since entry fees don't cover costs, sponsorship income is essential for your event, unless you are willing to lose money every year (some races are).
