Promotional idea

To promote the Gargoyle Gallop 8k, in Chicago IL, organizers (last year) set up a weekend water station on the city's busy, lakefront running path, and distributed laminated race information that fit into the pocket of running shorts.

This year, they set up water/Gatorade stations and offered runners sweat-resistant, tyvek wristbands with race info printed on it.  Most allowed the bands to be placed on their wrists, others stuffed them in their pockets.

500 bands cost only $43, including shipping.

Water and Gatorade were the big draw.  Runners don't want to carry brochures or flyers, so a more appropriate "leave-behind" was smart.
