Showing runners the course helps them feel more prepared for the race. The St. George Marathon, in St. George UT, posts an interactive course tour on its website, showing photos of the course at each mile mark.
The Utica Boilmermaker 15k, in Utica NY, features course maps noting mile markers, water stops, aid stations, and entertainment.
The Chicago Marathon plays a fast-motion drive of the course at its pre-race expo. Some races display the course on satellite pictures.
Runners will appreciate visual displays of the course. A map is better than a written description. Additional embellishments are even better.
