More people are running. More runners are racing. More runners can run longer distances. Running shoe technology has made it easier for runners to run more often and run longer distances. People are more attuned to healthy lifestyles and running is a key element to a healthier way of life.
A successful race will address the issues runners think are important (not the issues the race thinks are important). If you can satisfy the needs of the people who run, you'll be more likely to attract them to your race.
The running market is expanding. Races that understand runners' interests will grow, and those that don't...won't.
