Race director info swap
The 50th RRCA Convention, May 1-4 in Cincinnati OH, offered a great opportunity to exchange information with race directors throughout the country.
Sponsorship, government relations, and course design problems are experienced by everyone. Seasonal differences affect some races - northerners scale back during cold winters, southerners during hot summers.
Although most attendees represented running clubs, they frequently partner with charities and other local groups to produce races and are aware of the financial and operational pressures on these events.
Talk to other race directors whenever you can. You may learn something that will help your race.
