A whole lotta nature

Race directors will provide runners with a bit of nature along the course at two upcoming events.

The EcoThon, in Cumberland OH, offers 5k and 10k trail runs through The Wilds, a 10,000 acre wildlife conservation center that serves as home to rare and endangered species from Africa, Asia, and North America.

The Cross-country event offers partial Clydesdale weight divisions (200+ lbs. for men, 150+ lbs. for women) and a Safari Transport ticket for use on the tour.

The Run Wild 5k, in Troy OH, runs along wooded trails at the Brukner Nature Center.  "Steep hills and rough terrain" are advertised.  Age groups only go up to 60+ yrs.

Runners often get bored with races on residential streets.  A change of scenery may be a marketing advantage.
