Missed opportunities

There have been quite a few races we've wanted to tell you about during the year, but they didn't have web sites, so there was no place we could direct you to learn more about the event or even to view an entry form.

Too many races merely publish a telephone number or e-mail address, making it harder to find out about them.  Many runners will just give up and enter an event that provides information instantly and doesn't force them to first talk to somebody.

Runners don't want to leave voicemail or email messages or wait for someone to send them an entry form.  They want to see the information NOW!

So, if you don't have a web site - get one.  Your online registraton site (if you have one) is not sufficient.  You need a site that provides information about the course, amenities, directions, age group competition, cost, and anything else that makes your event more attractive.  You should decide what information to display and in what format, and not be limited by a registration template.

Don't penny-pinch.  A web site is one of the most effective marketing venues available to promote your race.
