Blood donors run for free
Here's an unusual promotion.
The American Red Cross, Greater Alleghenies Region, waived the entry fee in the Vampire 5k for runners who donated blood during a six-week period before race day. Wisely, the donation period ended one week before the race.
The Johnstown PA event, held for the first time this year, isn't shy about using its title to draw support for its local blood bank. Those who missed the donation period (or avoided it), though, can still pay the $25 late entry fee.
