New ideas often come from unexpected places.
Ken Harrelson, Chicago White Sox sportscaster and former major leaguer, was the first baseball player to use a batting glove. When called upon to play in a night game, following a long day of golfing, he donned a golf glove to keep his hand from blistering while at bat. Other players quickly copied this habit and "batting gloves" are now common in professional baseball.
Look at other sports, special events, and public attractions to get ideas for your race. Check out registration, signage, premiums, traffic control, marketing -- anything that might spawn an idea that can help your event.
