National news

Running news is national news.  This week's Newsweek magazine took note of the increasing participation in half-marathon races.  As race directors already know, many runners have the ability to run a 13.1 mile race - even if they are slow and race infrequently.

Half-marathon is the fastest growing distance in racing.  It requires far greater resources than a 5k, of course, including course marshals, water and fluid replacement, volunteers, course signage, and split timers, to mention a few.

You may think staging a half-marathon is a great opportunity to attract runners to an event.  Be prepared!
