More about Cleveland

The Rite-Aid Cleveland Marathon experienced a very unfortunate situation on its race course this year.  A police car was mistakenly blocking access to a turn, so a race official in the lead vehicle made a quick decision to cross a coned-off area, thus leading the elite runners off course.

Unexpected happenings can occur in any race, and the best way to try to avoid them is to educate everyone - race officials, city workers, volunteers, runners -- so the likelihood of error is minimal.  Course issues, especially, require informed volunteers and city workers to ensure that everybody stays on course.
