Running Club Circuits
You can generate publicity for your race and attract additional runners when your event becomes part of a running club circuit or series of races.
Competitive runners look forward to the opportunity to score points at these races and qualify for year-end awards. Middle- and back-of-the-pack runners enjoy racing in official club events and mingling with their running friends and colleagues.
Illinois' Chicago Area Runners Association has one of the best organized circuits, with series catering to different levels of runners and different types of races. Participating events must meet quality technical standards, but most events will want to meet those standards anyway.
A sample of other organizations offering club competition are Wisconsin's Badgerland Striders, Michigan's Kalamazoo Area Runners, Ohio's Northeast Running Club, Indiana's Fort Wayne Track Club, and Missouri's Mid-America Running Association.
You can find the running club in your area by viewing the list at Road Runners Club of America or checking with your local running store. Find out what it takes to become part of a local circuit or series. It will be worth it!
