The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle firmly held on to its title of "World's Largest 8k" when it tallied 23,595 finishers on March 25 in Downtown Chicago.

Women accounted for 53.6% of the finishers and outnumbered men in the age groups 15-19 through 30-34.  Unlike most races, where male 30-34 or 35-39 are the largest age groups, Shamrock women 25-29 were, by far, the most numerous age group.

The winner finished in 23:25 and the middle of the pack ran 48:41, a 9.8 minute per mile pace.

Check out the Running USA record of largest races, but don't fret about your event not making the list.  Just focus on producing a quality event.  The big numbers may come later.
