Championship Races
The 30th Annual Columbus 10k, the oldest race in Columbus OH, has been selected as the Ohio USATF 10k Championship. Other state and national championship races will be announced throughout the country, and your race could be one of them.
There are many advantages to being a USA Track & Field (USATF) or Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) championship event. Your race will generate additional publicity because of the competition and the presence of elite athletes. It will be promoted through USATF or RRCA. It may also become more attractive to sponsors who will benefit from the additional attention paid to the event.
But there will be additional expenses. You'll have to provide a respectable amount of prize money to make it worthwhile for elite athletes to participate and you'll have to provide them with transportation and lodging. You may also have to spend more on media advertising.
