Michigan Race Directors get info
Fifty-two race directors packed a meeting room at the Livonia Family YMCA in the Detroit suburb on February 24 to collect scads of information about race management.
Attendees learned about planning, marketing, sponsorship, course management, volunteer recruitment, local government relations, and more from experienced race organizers.
They heard from Renee Mahon of Whole Foods Market in West Bloomfield MI, Vicki Liesenfelt of Brooks Sports, Patricia Ball of the Detroit Free Press Marathon, Brandy Cline of Race for the Cure Detroit, Dan Bloedorn of SignMeUp.com, Larry Bostwick of Running Fit and the North Wind Running Club, and David Patt of the Association of Running Event Directors.
Additionally, Gretchen Mensing explained the event endorsement program of the Michigan Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, and information was provided about Michigan Runner magazine.
